--DESCRIPTION--

"Wihtikow" the word in Cree language for "Wendigo", is a first-person horror game developed in just one week for Itch.io's Scream Jam 2024. Inspired by the myth  of the Wendigo, a creature associated with greed, hunger, and insatiable bloodlust, often seen as a physical representation of these humans qualities told through Algonquian legends. But there is one theme that remains a constant with the malevolent Wendigo...Winter, the bitter cold pushing these tribes to the brink of starvation and even violence for survival.



In "Wihtikow", your own survival is put to the test. After a hunt gone wrong, you are put face-to-face with the enraged Wendigo after you've violated its land. You have no choice but to traverse the frozen lake taking shelter in an old cabin while the Wendigo closes in on its next meal. 

As all skilled hunters do...
The Wendigo will only try to take you by surprise, moving only if your back is turned to it..it is said that staring at it for too long or trying to escape via other means can only amplify its thirst for blood...



At the same time, you need to watch your step on cracked ice so you don't fall to a freezing demise, look out for fractured spots that will quickly shatter under your weight...

Will you carve your path to freedom through the fog? Or become another victim of the forest?
